Training and development are given the highest possible priority at Lamnalco. In the sectors in which we operate, the company invests in constantly improving the skills and knowledge of its personnel. The men and women who make up the teams must continually maintain their technical and commercial expertise and knowledge of procedures and practices.
Lamnalco operates a structured training and development program that incorporates set learning objectives specific to the employee’s job, an individual’s development needs and the future needs of Lamnalco. A Learning Contract is agreed and an outcome driven support structure put in place to ensure the employee is successful in gaining the required competences at the desired level. The Training & Development process is rigorously evaluated against set organisational and individual objectives to ensure that value is added to both.
Management
Managers that have been identified for possible future promotions are encouraged to take general and marine management qualifications, where appropriate, usually through distance learning study programs. Management trainees typically follow training programs that combine both periods at sea and onshore with a recognised management or professional qualification.
Professional
All professionally qualified employees are encouraged to maintain their knowledge up-to-date typically through distance learning programs, industry seminars, manufacturing and other externally delivered training courses.
Group
Derived from a range of sources, to include annual performance appraisals, customer requirements etc.; internally designed & delivered training workshops are provided for groups of employees, often complemented by approved external training provision.
Masters
Vessel Masters undergo scheduled assessments of their competence and capabilities under both simulated conditions using state-of-the-art technology and through periodic scheduled assessment conducted by Training & Marine Superintendents. A Learning Contract is agreed and further development is provided to ensure that each vessel Master remains at the very top of his profession.
